I have a LONG history of knee issues with both knees. Started at 18 with arthroscopic surgery on my right and two similar surgeries on my left knee in my 40's. I have arthritis in both knees as well. I believe I now have a meniscus tear on my right knee and with the current health crisis, haven't been able to get to a doctor. I purchased the itbandz brace after wearing two other types in the last 3 weeks and found this one, despite being the smallest, provides the most pain relief and best stabilization. I definitely recommend this brace!
I bought this for knee pain and some instability. Yesterday I went on a 4 mile hike w/a 1200 ft elevation gain. There was a little soreness at the end of the hike but nothing huge and nothing at all this morning!!! I was kind of meh when I used them for neighborhood walks, etc but I’m TOTALLY sold after yesterday. So happy.
After many, many years on arthritis pain with the only recommended treatment being knee replacement, I have relief! This band has allowed me to return to hiking over moderate terrain as well as walking 2-3 miles a day. It’s truly a game changer!
Let me start with my condition. I have an injury on my left meniscus and when I walk down hill for around 45 mins - an hour, the outer side of my knee hurts really bad to the point that I cannot walk anymore. To continue walking I need to either limp or walk squatting. The next day my knee hurts to the extent that I need to take Ibuprofen. The pain usually last 2 days. I have tried hiking sticks and knee straps. None have worked.
This only happens when I walk down hill. If I walk up hill, I have no problem. Thus, even simple hikes that are mostly flat cause me pain because on your way back you usually are descending.
I got this band for my trip to yellowstone. I was able to long walks for 3 days. On the 4th day we did a 5 hour hike that was very steep. At the end my knee hurt, but not nearly at bad as in the past. So, I give it 5 stars because it allow me to do hikes that I was never able to complete before.
If you have knee problems, I think it is naive to believe that this device will solved al your problems. I think it depends on how severe your injury is. For me, I'm happy with the results.
These are wonderful. I have occasional patellar tendinitis but itBandz gives me such relief! I’m 48 years old and I play roller derby and skate ramps and halfpipes. No way I could keep it up without my itBandz. They are comfortable and well made. The only reason I’m on my second set is because my puppy chewed the first set.
Use of a special neoprene provides a comfortable wearing experience.
The fastening system lets you easily adjust and control the amount of tension that the band provides you so that you can get the stability and support that is right for you.
The molded rubber insert piece mirrors the natural structure of the knee
Physical therapists love how itBandz assist in protecting your knee joints / kneecaps from stress and strain - so you can stay active and mobile.
itBandz effectively alleviate the discomfort caused by IT Band Syndrome, tendonitis, arthritis, Osgood Schlatters, other chronic knee issues due to excess weight, previous surgeries, a torn or thinning meniscus, and ACL, hip or ankle injuries.
If you suffer from arthritis and thinning cartilage (bone on bone) the tension from itBandz allows the internal support piece to gently lift the patella and act as an additional shock absorber for the knee.
The knee joint is a hinge and should only track forward and backward. Lateral motion can be introduced when tendons and ligaments get injured or overly tight from IT Band Syndrome. When these happen, the knee is pulled out of alignment and requires the additional stability provided by itBandz.
If you have tendonitis, the compression on the patellar tendon reduces strain on the tendon and allows it to heal while easing pain and reducing inflammation.
